Answers to the most common questions about listing your business, claiming a listing, Featured slots, and how we keep the directory trustworthy.
Yes — listing your business on Locals of Texas is free. Any eligible Texas business can create a standard listing at no cost. We manually review every submission so the directory stays trustworthy.
Click 'Add Your Business' in the header or footer, fill in the short form with your business name, category, address, and contact details, and submit. A real person manually checks every new submission before it goes live — usually within 24–48 hours.
Open your listing and use the 'Claim this business' button. We verify that you are the actual owner before handing over editing access. Claims require both that the listing has no existing owner AND has not already been verified.
Common reasons: the business isn't located in or serving Texas, the listing duplicates an existing one, contact details look inaccurate, or the submission violates our Terms of Use. We email you with the reason so you can fix and resubmit.
A paid time-limited placement that surfaces your listing on the city page and the homepage. Each city has up to 6 Featured slots, filled from a fair first-in/first-out queue — the longer you've been waiting, the sooner you rotate in.
Each Featured placement runs for the fixed time window set when you request it. After the window expires, the next pending request in that city's queue automatically rotates into the slot.
A real person manually checks every new submission and every ownership claim. We check that the business is real, located in or serving Texas, and matches the category description. We may also remove or edit listings later if we receive verified reports or notice policy violations.
You can remove your listing from the Owner Dashboard. To delete your account entirely, email us at admin@localsoftexas.com and we'll process it within 30 days. See our Privacy Policy for full data-retention details.
Locals of Texas is growing slowly, one city at a time. We can't accept submissions for cities we haven't opened yet — but check back as we grow. You can browse the cities we currently serve from the homepage.
Locals of Texas is an independent, Texas-based directory. We aren't owned by a national chain or media group — it's a small team focused on making local businesses easier to find and trust.
