About Locals of Texas

An independent Texas-based directory for the businesses your neighbors actually recommend.

By locals, for Locals.

Locals of Texas is an independent, Texas-based business directory. We are not owned by a national chain, a media group, or a franchise network. A small team runs it because we wanted a straightforward place to find the kind of local businesses your neighbors already recommend — and to give those businesses a clean way to be found online without getting buried under ads, lead-gen forms, and out-of-state results.

The problem we are trying to solve

Finding a trustworthy local business in a growing Texas town is harder than it should be. Most search results are dominated by national chains, directories that resell your contact info, or agencies bidding for every category at once. Real local owners — the roofer two streets over, the baker working out of a shared kitchen, the family shop that has been on Main Street for fifteen years — quietly get pushed down the page. Locals of Texas exists to change the mix. Every listing here is reviewed by a person before it goes live, and the directory is built around cities, not paid keyword ranks.

How moderation works

Many amazing local businesses are already being recommended by their communities, but they are often hard to find in a consistent way. They get mentioned inside Facebook groups, shared by locals through word of mouth, or show up briefly on Facebook Marketplace, but they do not always have a clear place to stand out and grow. Locals of Texas was built to give those businesses a space of their own, where they can thrive and use the tools they need to get in front of locals actively searching for what they offer.

What is different here

We do not sell leads. We do not rank listings by who paid the most today. Free listings cover the basics and stay free — name, address, phone, website, hours, photos, category. Premium and Premium+ unlock extra tools like the AI description writer, marketing suggestions, additional photos, and eligibility for Featured slots on each city page — not better placement in site search. Cities expand as demand shows up; if your town is not listed yet, submitting a business tells us you want it open.

Our Mission

Make it easier for customers to find real local businesses and easier for Texas owners to be found — without selling their contact details or making them pay to be ranked.

Who we serve

Locals of Texas is built for two audiences at once: Texans looking for dependable local businesses in their city, and Texas business owners who want a professional online presence without competing against national directories for every search. If either of those sounds like you, this directory was built with you in mind.

Visibility

Local businesses deserve to be found. We give them a professional presence that shows up where locals are searching.

Trust

Real businesses, real communities. We help customers discover businesses they can rely on.

Connection

At its core, this directory is about helping local stay strong — connecting the people who serve with the people who need them.

Hi — we’re Simon & Rama. We love farmers markets, local boutiques, and family-owned shops, but finding them online is harder than it should be. So we built Locals of Texas to change that.
